Jesus is

JESUS

He is Alpha and Omega

Isaiah 9:6 — For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 7:14 — Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (Prophecy).

Matthew 1:23— ”The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"— which means, "God with us" (Isaiah 7:14 prophecy fulfilled).

Comment:Jesus was declared to be the Mighty God and Everlasting Father long before he was ever conceived in the womb of Mary.  The  Everlasting Father became the child and son born in the manger.  Therefore Jesus truly is Immanuel, God with us.  Jesus is Almighty God become a man.

Isaiah 40:3 — A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God (Prophecy).

John 1:23—John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord’” (Isaiah 40:3prophecy fulfilled).

Comment:The word LORD, spelled with all capital letters is the name of God.For more information about God’s name go to the article titled “LORD, Hebrew Tetragrammaton."  In prophecy, John the baptist was to prepare the world to receive God  Almighty.  In reality, John prepared the world for Jesus, preaching the message of repentance.  John did not make a mistake, he knew that Jesus was God joining the human race.

Isaiah 45:23 — Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear (Prophecy).

Philippians 2:9-11 — Prophecy fulfilled: Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father(Isaiah 45:23 prophecy referring to Jesus).

Comment:Isaiah 45:23 quotes God to say that “every knee will bow…every tongue will swear.” In the previous verses God stated: “…there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me…there is no other.”  In Philippians, Paul, a Pharisee, uses this same language to refer to Jesus. He understood scripture’s description of God as a solitary spirit, a lone sovereign.  He also knew that applying  this scripture to Jesus was the same as calling him the only true God.   In essence, Paul was saying that Jesus was the only God and Savior, become a man.

Isaiah 44:6—Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isaiah 48:12—Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

Revelation 22:13, 16— I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Comment:God declared through Isaiah that he was the “first and the last,” but Jesus went further with his declaration by claiming to be the “Alpha and Omega, first and last, beginning and end.” How many “firsts and lasts” are there?

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. (Revelation 1:17-18)
The only accurate explanation is found in the fact that Jesus is Almighty God incarnate.

Jesus is the image of the invisible God

Hebrews 1:3 — The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

2 Corinthians 4:4 — The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Colossians 1:15 — He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Comment:According to John 4:24, “God is spirit.”  Luke 24:39 tells us “a spirit has no flesh or bone.”  All scripture confirms that God, in the Old Testament, was invisible.  “No man has seen God” (John 1:18);  but Jesus is described as the “exact representation of God, the image of God, and the image of the invisible God.”   The spirit of God that never permanently occupied a body or form before, took on the form of a man by becoming the person of Jesus Christ.  He was no longer invisible, untouchable, without form, now he dwelt among us.  Both God Almighty and man:  born in Bethlehem as Jesus Christ.

Jesus came to save us from our sin

Matthew 1:21 — ”She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

John 1:29 — The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

John 3:17 — For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but tosave the world through him.

Hebrews 7:27 — …He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

I John 1:7 — But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

I John 3:5 — But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.

Comment:The name of Jesus in New Testament Greek is “Iesous” (e-ay-soos’).  The origin of Jesus’ name is found in the Old Testament names “Joshua, Jehoshuah, or Jehoshua,” pronounced Yehowshuwa` (yeh-ho-shoo’-ah); or Yehowshua. These names mean Jehovah-saved, Jehovah saves, Jehovah saviour. The name of Jesus was not decided upon in an arbitrary fashion as most children’s names are.  Jesus’ name was decided based upon his mission in life, and his mission was determined from the foundation of the world—He was to save us from our sins (Revelation 13:8) with one sacrifice for all time.  The significance of the name of Jesus does not end with his mission in life.  It is also found in the fact that Jesus is Jehovah.  The one true God, who “stretched out the heavens alone, and spread out the earth by himself” (Isaiah 44:24), came to earth to save us by living as Jesus Christ.  “God did not send someone else to save the world…he came himself.”

Jesus is the Son of God

Psalm 2:7 — I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father (Also Hebrews 1:5).

Matthew 1:18 — This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.

John 3:16 — ”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 14:28—…If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

Matthew 3:17 — And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Matt 26:63-64 — But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”  “Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied.

Romans 1:4 — …and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Comment:The sonship of Jesus was predetermined in the mind and plan of God from eternity, but he did not really exist until he was born in Bethlehem.  As my mentor Robert Sabin described, when a homebuilder looks at blueprints of his future home, they see the plans for the bathroom and say, “There’s the bathroom.”  They can see it in their mind’s eye, but it doesn’t exist yet.  The plan of Jesus’ birth, life, sacrifice, and death was similar. You might say, God had a blueprint of salvation that was so real to him he could see it as though it already existed.  Romans 4:17 tells us “God…calls things that are not as though they were.”  Psalm 2:7 (quoted above) in the KJV states “this day have I begotten thee.” Jesus was God’s son, his only son—he had a birthday which means there was a time when he did not exist.    The spirit of God is eternal, without beginning or end.  Man is not eternal.  As a man, Jesus  had a beginning.  The humanity of Jesus died as a sacrifice for our sins at Calvary.   The spirit of the risen Christ, humanity and divinity together will never end.  Since the first Christmas day, Jesus will always be God, and God will always be man.  1 Corinthians 15:28 describes a time when “God will be all, and in all.”  The sonship of Jesus as mediator to the human race will no longer be necessary when there is no more sin, no more death, no more sorrow.  Jesus will always be God’s only begotten son.

Jesus is both the creator and descendant of David

Isaiah 11:1—A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

Matthew 1:2-26—See this text for the lineage of Abraham to David, and David to Jesus.

Matthew 22:41-46—While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42”What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?”  42  “The son of David,” they replied.  43 He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him `Lord’? For he says, 44”`The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.” ’ 45If then David calls him `Lord,’ how can he be his son?” 46No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Romans 1:3 — …regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David….

Revelation 5:5
Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, theRoot of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Revelation 22:16 — ”I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

Comment:When Jesus declares he is the “Root and Offspring of David,” he is exposing two facts:   1) David is descended from Jesus and 2)  Jesus is descended from David. How can this be? Jesus, the human, did not exist actually before David, but the spirit of God did. The “Root” is the Spirit of God. The Spirit that spoke the worlds into existence out of nothing.   The same Spirit that selected David as king and then blessed his kingdom.  It was that Spirit which overshadowed Mary to become the father of Jesus.  The Spirit of God then took on the identity of Jesus, by living in him. Jesus’ human ancestry is traced back to David and Abraham.  His bloodline comes directly from God.  Jesus is the Spirit of God from the Old Testament who became a man in the New Testament, thereby the “Root and Offspring of David.”

He is the King of Kings and Lord of lords

Daniel 2:47—The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.”

1 Timothy 6:13-15—I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time-God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Revelation 17:14 — They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings— and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

Revelation 19:16—On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Comment:Misunderstanding these scriptures leads to an inaccurate perception of God.  In any kingdom, there can only be one “King of kings.”  You may say, "That is true in a human kingdom, but it could work in a divine Kingdom." God Himself leaves no room for plurality within His sovereignty.  He declares “I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself “(Isaiah 44:24). To create a doctrine to solve problems of scriptural interpretation only creates problems, not solutions.  The question raised from these texts is:  How can the King of kings of the Old Testament be alone as God, and yet Jesus  rightfully claims the same title in the New Testament?  The answer is found in the fact that the King of the Old Testament is also King in the New Testament.   There is no division of power, no delegation of authority, no savior dispatched from heaven.  God did not send someone else to save the world, He came Himself.   God did not send a prince into the kingdom, the king put on the robe of a prince and came into the kingdom.  You may ask, how can this be?  Read on below.

Jesus’ Father, the Spirit of God, was living within him.

John 10:30 — Jesus said, “I and the Father are one.”

John 10:38 — But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”

John 14:8-10 — Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

John 14:20 — On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

2 Corinthians 5:19 — …God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation (NKJ).

Colossians 1:19 — For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him

Comment:Have you ever asked yourself the question:  When Jesus prayed, who was he praying to?  Why did Jesus seem to have such a subordinate role if he was God Almighty? (After reading this, I encourage you to visit the Sir Isaac Watt’s article “A Solemn Address to the Deity.”   He had very similar questions.)  Jesus was born a male child of the human race.  He required food, water, warmth, and nurturing to survive and flourish.   Jesus became tired; he slept; he wept.  He was tempted in every aspect possible.   The humanity of Jesus was as fragile and susceptible to failure as any other human being.  The difference between Jesus and us, is Jesus had total access to the Spirit of God living in him.  John the baptist described Jesus by saying:   “For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit” (John 3:34).  It was the Spirit of God living in Jesus that gave him the power to do miracles, to know the thoughts of men, to be “God with us.”   The humanity of Jesus prayed to the Spirit of God in him for strength, insight, wisdom, knowledge, direction, and power. The Spirit in Jesus was no longer just a temporary manifestation of deity on earth (See Theophanies).  God became a man, or “The Creator became part of creation” (Robert A. Sabin).   The humanity of Jesus was the mediator between God and men (1 Timothy 2:5).  The flesh and blood was necessary for the propitiation of our sins (Romans 3:25, 1 John 2:2, 1 John 4:10); for without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness of sin (Hebrews 9:22).  The importance of Jesus being a man does not end there.  Jesus is also our advocate, defending us when we stand before God in judgment when the accuser attempts to steal us away from God (Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25,1 John 2:1).  The humanity of Jesus should encourage every downtrodden, brokenhearted, defeated individual because in Jesus, we have someone who understands what we are going through. Jesus will always be a man, but he won’t always need to be a mediator, an atonement for sin, an intercessor. See above reference to 1 Corinthians 15:28 under “Jesus is the Son of God.”   God will always reside in Jesus, therefore Jesus will always be God.

Jesus is the baptizer with the Holy Ghost, the Comforter

Isaiah 44:3—For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

Isaiah 59:20-21—“The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the LORD.  21 “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of their descendants from this time on and forever,” says the LORD.

Joel 2:28-29—I will pour out my Spirit on all people.  Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29  Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

Matt 3:11 — ”I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Mark 1:7-8 — And this was his message: “After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Luke 3:16—John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Luke 24:49—I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

John 1:33 — I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

Acts 2:1-18—When the day of Pentecost came…All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them…Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd…this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Comment:In the Old Testament, God was speaking when he promised the out pouring of the Holy Spirit.  Isaiah 59 uses the Hebrew Tetragrammaton for the proper name of God—LORD. Yet in the New Testament, there can be no controversy that Jesus will be the one who pours out the Holy Spirit.  Jesus even refers to the promise of the Father in Luke 24:49 that he will pour out.  When considered in perspective of Jesus being Jehovah God in the flesh, there is no conflict between the Old and New Testaments.   Any other interpretation, requires the formulation of a doctrine to reconcile the Bible with itself.

Jesus is the Holy Ghost/Comforter

Matthew 28:20—And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

John 14:16-18 — And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Romans 8:9-11—You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you

Comments:One must be exercise caution to remember that the Holy Spirit is God’s Spirit, not a separate entity.  The words “Holy Spirit” are “pneuma hagion” in the Greek.  Translated it means “holy breath.” It was the holy breath of God that hovered over the waters in creation (Genesis 1:2).   That same holy breath of God overshadowed Mary, the mother of Jesus, and then lived in his son.  The holy breath of God raised Jesus from the dead.  The spirit of the risen Christ referred to in these verses is the same holy breath of God.  Only now, the spirit has taken up permanent residence in a man.  Jesus told his followers in John 14: “I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you" (KJV). He identifies himself as the comforter, which is one and the same as the Holy Spirit.    In Romans, Paul refers to the Spirit of God living in you, and in the next phrase emphasizes the importance of having the Spirit of Christ in you.  The connection should be simple.

Jesus will be on the throne when we arrive in heaven.

Matthew 19:28—Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne…

Revelation 3:21—To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Revelation 4:2-3—…there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian.

Revelation 7:17—For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living water.

Revelation 19:4—The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne.

Revelation 22:3-4—The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

Comments:
According to the Bible, how many thrones are there in heaven?  It is clear by the constant use of the singular word throne, that there is only one throne.  How many will be seated on the throne.  Matthew refers to the Son of Man. Is that one? When Jesus speaks in Revelation 3:21, he tells us the he will be seated with his Father.   Is that two? It must be understood that the Father and Jesus are one (John 10:30) because the Father lives in Jesus.  There is one God, one savior, one Father, one LORD, one throne, one King of Kings and Lord of lords…Jesus.

— Zechariah 12:10  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon ME whom they have (pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn.
(Prophecy).

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of GOD, thought it not robbery to be equal with GOD:
7 But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a MAN, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
— Philippians 2:5-11 (Letters From Prison) ====

Jesus is everything to us:  He is God, savior, mediator, propitiation for sin, advocate, and comforter.  Soon, he will be our rescuer, King and ruler.

Before we address the point being raised by the objector, we first quote the immediate context of John 8:58 so as to fully appreciate what the Lord Jesus claimed for himself:
"He said to them, ‘You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.’” John 8:23-24
"Jesus said to them, ‘If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me.’” John 8:42
"‘Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps MY WORD, HE WILL NEVER SEE DEATH.’ The Jews said to him, ‘Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, "If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death." Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?’ Jesus answered, ‘If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’ But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. HE SAW IT and was glad.’ So the Jews said to him, ‘You are not yet fifty years old, AND HAVE YOU SEEN ABRAHAM?’ Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham came into being (genesthai), I AM.’ So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.” John 8:51-59
The Lord Jesus, in this reference, states that he is from above, that he came from God, claims he repeated on several occasions:
"‘For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.’ … So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, ‘I am the bread that came down from heaven.’ They said, ‘Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, “I have come down from heaven”?’” John 6:38, 41-42
"Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending TO WHERE HE WAS BEFORE?" John 6:62
"for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.” John 16:27-28
Jesus says that his word prevents a person from ever dying, a point he reiterates elsewhere:
"Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me SHALL NEVER DIE. Do you believe this?’ She said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.’” John 11:25-27
Jesus also claims that Abraham saw him, and that he existed even before Abraham was created which explains how it was that Abraham could see someone who had walked this earth nearly 2,000 years after him. No wonder the Jews sought to stone him!
Now as far as Christ existing before Adam is concerned note carefully what Jesus says elsewhere:
"And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.” John 17:5
Compare this with John’s prologue:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made… He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-3, 10, 14
Not only did the Lord Jesus exist before the world itself, he was also the Agent whom God used to actually create every created thing, which makes him an eternal Being and he therefore existed before the angels. In fact, he created the angels according to John!

ng into this world and speaking about the

body

which He was to receive upon that advent. Hebrews 10:5 states, “

Therefore, when Christ

came into the world He said: `Sacrifice and offering You

[Speaking to His Heavenly Father]

did not desire, but a

body

You prepared for me.

" In John 1:15 we read these striking words

from the lips of John the Bap

tist concerning the Christ, “

This was He of whom I said, `He

Who comes after me has surpasse

d Me because He was before me

.” Now John was born

before

Jesus was, and yet he says that Jesus existed

before

he did. Let us trace this existence

through the pages of Holy Writ.

The Apostle John tells us in chapte

r one, verse 18, of his Gospel, “

No one has ever

seen God, but God the only Son, who is at

the Father’s side, has made Him known

.”

According to this verse no pe

rson has ever seen God, but

Christ

has

declared

or made known

to men. In the Old Testament times God on numer

ous occasions appeared to individuals. In

these appearances He took the form of either a

man or an angel. If we accept the teaching of

the above verse [John 1:18] , then we must come

to the conclusion that since no man has ever

seen God the Father, it must ha

ve been Jesus Christ the Son Who took upon Himself the form

of an angel or a man and appeared to Old Test

ament characters. With

this thought in mind let

us make a study of some of these appearances. The New Testament will identify Christ in

some of these appearances for us. The context will make it clear that more than merely an

angel is meant.

[Other Scripture to study on this subj

ect would be John 6:38; and 17:5 & 24.]

AT THE TIME OF JEWISH CAPTIVITY

2

The experience of Daniel’s three friends who refused to worship King

Nebuchadnezzar’s image and were thrown into the fiery furnace is a familiar story. In Daniel

3:25, the king looking into the furnace, says, “

Look! I see

four

men walking around in the

fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth

looks like a son of the god

.” No doubt this is the

accurate translation of what the king actually sa

id, however, the translators of the old version

gave us the true situation when they expressed these words , “

The form of the fourth is like

the Son of God

.” Certainly this fourth Person was none

other than Jesus Christ, the Second

Person in the Trinity! In ve

rse 28 the king calls Him an “

angel.

" He no doubt had that

appearance to those who saw Him.

What a comfort to know that the Lord Jesus Christ made His presence

known to those who were going through trials even in the Old

Testament times!

C.

DURING THE TIME OF THE PROPHETS

The Apostle Peter in his firs

t epistle, chapter one, vers

es 10 and 11, speaks about the

Old Testament prophets, when he states, “

Concerning this salvation, the

prophets

, who spoke

of the grace that was to come to you, searched

intently and with the grea

test care, trying to

find out the time and circumstances to which

the Spirit of Christ in them

was pointing when

He predicted the sufferings of Chri

st and the glories that would follow

.”

The Spirit of Christ

was in them. He existed in those days! It is

true that He made Himself known to them

through His Holy Spirit, but it is more than like

ly that at times He actually appeared unto

them in human or angelic form when He reveal

ed to them the teachings which have become

a part of the Word of God. And, how

appropriate that it should be so!

D.

IN THE DAYS OF KING DAVID

When the Lord Jesus debated with His en

emies we find Him using a quotation from

David concerning the Messiah i

ndicating that He was alive in

those days. Matthew 22:41-46

states, “

While the Pharisees were gat

hered together, Jesus asked them, `What do you think

about the Christ? Whose son is he?’ `The son of

David,’ they replied. He said to them, `How

is it then that David , spea

king by the Spirit, calls Him

`Lord’ For he says…

[Jesus, then,

quotes Psalm 110:1]

…`The Lord said to My Lord: Sit at My right hand until I put your

enemies under Your feet.’”

The question, Jesus asks, was, “

Since David calls Him, `

Lord

,’

how is He his son

?” And, verse 46 goes on to say, ‘

No one could say a word in reply, and

from that day on no one dared to ask Him any more questions

.” Here, under divine

inspiration, David listened to

a conversation carried on between God the Father and Jesus

Christ the Son. He wrote down what They said and has given it to us. We need no further

proof than this, that our Savi

or lived in those days when

the Psalms were being written.

E.

AT THE TIME OF THE JUDGES

In the thirteenth chapter of Judges we

find the story of the appearing of the “

Angel of

Jehovah

" unto the parents of Samson. Verse 3 says, "

The angel of the Lord appeared to her

and said, `You are sterile and childless, but

you are going to conceive and have a son

.” In

verse 6 this angel is called “

A man of God

.” In verse 19 he is referred to as “

The Lord.”

Here

then was a revelation of God in human form, and

as we have already seen, it must have been

through the Person of the Second Pe

rson in the Trinity - the Lord

Jesus Christ. Verse 18 is a

further confirmation of this fact, for we read, “

And the angel of Jehovah said unto him, Why

do you ask my name, seeing it is

wonderful

?” [Reminds us of Isaiah 9:6 where Messiah is

named, “

Wonderful

.”]

A similar appearance was made to Gideon in chapter six. Verse 12 states, “

When the

angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, `The

LORD

is with you, mighty warrior

.’” In

verse 22 Gideon talks to the angel and says to him, “

Ah, Sovereign LORD!

" Deity is most

certainly indicated here. And, as no human bei

ng could have looked into the face of God the

Father, we conclude this was once again the

Lord Jesus Christ come down to earth to

encourage one of the Old Testament saints.

F.

DURING THE LIFETIME OF JOSHUA

Joshua and the Israelites had crossed over

the river Jordan, and the manna, the food

from heaven, had ceased. The tremendous task of conquering this land was before General

Joshua and his army. Just here a fresh revelati

on of God was needed to

encourage Joshua and

it was supplied in the Person of Jesus Christ

. Listen to the story in Joshua 5:13-15, “

Now

when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and

saw a man standing in front of him with a

drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, `Are you for us or for our

enemies?’ `Neither,’ he replied, `but as co

mmander of the army of the LORD I have now

come.’ Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence and asked him, `What message

does my Lord have for his servant?’ The comm

ander of the Lord’s ar

my replied, `Take off

your sandals, for the place where you

are standing is holy.’ And Joshua did so.

" After this

remarkable appearance Joshua never needed to be

afraid for the real captain of his army was

the Second Person in the Trinity, whom we know to

be the Lord Jesus Christ. And He is our

Captain today. May we go forth under His ba

nner to win battles under His leadership!

G.

AT THE TIME OF ISRAEL’S EX

PERIENCES IN THE WILDERNESS

Was Jesus Christ present with the Israelites

in their wanderings through the wilderness as

well as their coming forth out of Egypt? He most cer

tainly was. Paul says so twice in the tenth

chapter of his first letter to th

e Corinthians. Verse 9 states, “

We should not test the Lord, as

some of them did - and were killed by snakes

.” Christ was there and

the Israelites tempted

Him by their unbelief. And verse 4 states, “

They drank the same spiritual drink; for they

drank from the spiritual rock that ac

companied them, and that rock was Christ

.” Christ

followed with them all through those wilder-

ness experiences. And He will follow with us,

but may we not tempt Him as they did!

Jesus Christ led the way for the hosts of

the Israelites as they

journeyed on! Exodus

14:19 states, “

Then the angel of God, who had been tr

aveling in front of Israel’s army,

withdrew and went behind them.

" When protection was needed

in the rear His position was

changed. The prophet Isaiah gives us an interesting name for this “

angel

.” In Isaiah 63:9,

refers to this angel as, “

the angel of His presence.

" [Literally translated this verse would read,

the angel of His face

.”] It would be appropriate

then to call the angel, “

The Face of the

Lord

.” And is that not exactly what Jesus Christ

is? It is in the face that a person’s real

character is seen, and when we look at the f

ace of Jesus we see the character of God, His

heavenly Father and ours.

H.

AT THE TIME OF MOSES

Moses was one of those highly favored in

Old Testament times by having numerous

revelations of God made known unto him. The fi

rst appearance of God to Moses is found in

Exodus 3:1-6, which states, “

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the

priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the fa

r side of the desert and came to Horeb, the

mountain of God. There the angel of

the LORD appeared to him in

flames of fire from within

a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on

fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, `I

will go over and see this strange sight - why th

e bush does not burn up.’ When the LORD saw

that he had gone over to look, God called to

him from within the bush, `Moses, Moses!’ And

Moses said, `Here I am.’ `Do not

come any closer,’ God said. `Take off your sandals, for the

place where you are standing is holy ground.’ Then

he said, `I am the God of your father, the

God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of

Jacob.’ At this Mose

s hid his face, because

he was afraid to look at God.”

In the verses which follow Moses is commissioned to go and

deliver the Israelites from Egyptian bondage. Mo

ses then asks God concerning what name he

should use in telling Israel God had sent him

to them. God answers in verse 14 and says, “

I

AM THAT I AM

. This is what you are to

say to the Israelites: `

I AM

has sent me to you.’”

Again and again Jesus Christ used the expression

I am

in making claims of deity for

Himself.

Here are a few of such claims: “

I am

the bread of life.” “

I am

the light of the world.”

I am

the resurrection and the Life.” “

I am

the true vine.” “

I am

Alpha and Omega.” “

I am

the bright and morning star

.” And each time such a statement was made, Jesus was saying, “

I

am

the same Personage who appeared

to Moses in the burning bush

.”

As a result of this appearance to Moses,

he had to make a momentous decision. On the

one hand was Egypt and a position of wealth, in

volving pleasure and popularity. On the other

hand was the wilderness experi

ence with God’s people, and

according to the writer of

Hebrews, the presence of Chri

st. Hebrews 11:25-26 states, “

He chose to be mistreated along

with the people of God rather than to enjoy th

e pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded

disgrace for the sake of Christ as

of greater value t

han the treasures of Egypt, because he was

looking ahead to his reward

.” Moses chose the presence of

Christ, although it meant reproach

rather than all that Egypt had to offer him. Ye

s, Jesus Christ was with Moses in the long ago!

When the Israelites arrived at Mount Sina

i we know that Moses went up into the

mount and there talked with God. The tables of

the law were given and these commandments

were soon broken by the people. But after Moses

had destroyed the golden calf he went into

the tabernacle and there he ta

lked with God. Exodus 33:11 says concerning that conversation,

The Lord would speak to Moses face to

face, as a man speaks with his friend.

[This was a temporary “

tabernacle,

" called the "

the tabernacle of

the congregation

" which the children of Israel worshiped at

before

the Tabernacle, which God commanded, at Sinai, to be

built, was built.]

Could language be any more beautiful than

that? But certainly Moses could not have

looked into the face of God the Father. The A

postle John tells us no man has seen God the

Father at any time. Hence we are driven to th

e conclusion that it must have been the Lord

Jesus Christ, God’s Son, with Whom

Moses held conversation with “

face to face

.” One such

How far back does the pre-existence of Chri

st extend? Was He in existence when the

world and all the vast universe

was created? When God created

man, we learn from Genesis

1:26, that more than one Person in the Godh

ead was involved, because this verse states,

Then God said, `Let

us

make man in

our

image, in

our

likeness.

" The plural pronouns

indicate that at leas

t two persons of the Godhead had to

do with creation. A careful study of

Scripture will indicate that all Three Persons

of the Godhead had a part in this marvelous

event. But how could this be? A good way to unde

rstand the part each One had in creation is

to think of God as the Archite

ct of the universe…Jesus Ch

rist as the Contractor, or

Builder…and…the Holy Spirit as the Furnis

her, or the One Who bestows life.

Let us see what the New Testament says

about Jesus Christ as the Creator:

John 1:3 says, “

Through Him

[Christ Jesus]

all things were

made; without Him

nothing was made that has been made.

1 Corinthians 8:6 states, “

Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom

all things came and for whom we live; and th

ere is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through

whom all things came and through whom we live

.” Ephesians 3:9 states, “

God, Who

created all things

.” [King James translat

es this verse as, “

Who created all things by

Jesus Christ

.”]

Colossians 1:16 states, “

For by Him

[Jesus Christ]

all things were created: things

in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible

.”

Hebrews 1:2 states, “

…through Whom

[Christ Jesus]

He

[God, the Father]

made

the universe

.”

So what?

What difference will it make to me if I realize that the same Christ Who dwells in

my heart as my Savior is the One

Who created all the vast universe?

A number of year ago a South American

firm purchased from the United States

the first printing press that

was sent down to that land. After it was set up, for some

reason or other it would not work. so word wa

s sent to the ones from which it had been

purchased asking that someone be sent

down who could fix the machine.

However, when the man arrived they refused to let him work on the machine

because he was too young. They wired back to the United States, “

This man you sent is

too young. Send us one more experienced

.”

Back over the wires came this answer, “

This man

made

the machine. Let him fix

it

.” This young man had been instrumental in

making the machine, which had been sent

down, in the first place!

Jesus Christ made me, I ought to have fa

ith to believe He can fix anything about

me that needs fixing! What I need is to r

ealize the tremendous power of the One Whom I

call

my

Savior!

O.

BEFORE CREATION

Since Jesus Christ was Creator, then we

know His experience goes back before

creation. In John 17:5 Jesu

s uses the expression, “

before the world was

" to describe His pre-

existence. The Prophet Micah in his famous pr

ediction concerning the birth of the Messiah

says of Him in Micah 5:2, “

whose origins are from of old, from ancient time”

[or from days of

eternity].

Jesus Christ has existed from a

ll eternity! He had no beginning.

There you have the facts - as to understandi

ng those facts, it is beyond the finite mind

of man to grasp such truths.

What was Jesus Christ doing before the

creation? Does the Bi

ble tell us anything

about His activities in the long ago? Yes, we ha

ve a glimpse, but it is sufficient to encourage

our hearts just to have that gl

impse. That glimpse gives us an idea of His condition in relation

to God the Father, and also links us up with

Him through the ages, if our faith is in Him.

Philippians 2:6 tells us that He was on an equalit

y with the Father. John 17:5 tells of the glory

which He had with the Father before the world was. John 17:24 speaks of God the Father

loving Jesus Christ the Son before the foundation

of the world. But what of His relation to us?

Listen to the words of 2 Timothy 1:9, “

Who has saved us and called

us to a holy life - not

because of anything we have done but because

of His own purpose and grace. This grace was

given us in Christ Jesus

before the beginning of time

.” Back there in those days of the eternity

of the past Jesus Christ was busy purposing a

nd planning for your salvation which was to be

on the principle of free grace. What a glorious

salvation is ours! In Ephesians 1:4 we are

given another wonderful thought: “

For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to

be holy and blameless in

His sight in love.

" Chosen in Christ in the eternity of the past! We

can scarcely grasp the meaning of it. But what

made it possible? Revelation 13:8 gives the

answer. It states,”

…the Lamb that was slain fr

om the creation of the world

.” The cross of

Christ and the precious blood

of Christ were in the mind and purpose of God throughout all

the ages of the past. And it is this that make

s possible all these wonderf

ul blessings which are

ours in Him.

10

Matthew 13:14-15 states, “

In them

…[that is in the Jews w

ho rejected Jesus as their

Messiah]…

is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: `You

will be ever hearing but never under-

standing; you will be ever seeing but never pe

rceiving. For this people’s heart has become

calloused; they hardly hear with their ears,

and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they

might see with their eyes, hear with their ea

rs, understand with their hearts and turn, and I

would heal them

.” This passage, which Jesus quoted, sta

ting that He, indeed, fulfilled is from

Isaiah 6:8-10, and identifies Him with “

Jehovah

" of the Old Testament.

When John the Baptist announced the appearan

ce of the Messiah, he, of course, was

referring to Jesus Christ

specifically, it is my c

onviction that the word “

Jehovah

,

" more

accurately, really refers to the Godhead…including

Jesus Christ…the Second Person of the Triune

Godhead…and was the physical expression of

that Godhead to man.

JESUS, IN HIS DESCENT FROM HEAVEN TO EARTH

11

Throughout the Old Testament, God’s promis

e is that He would enter the human

family…that He would suffer, die, and rise agai

n, in order to redeem the lost world and to

reconcile all things unto Hims

elf. [Note: Genesis 3:15; 49:

10; Micah 5:2;

Daniel 9:25;

Hebrews 1:5-13.]

The Old Testament predicts that the comi

ng Messiah, Who was none other than Jesus

Christ, would be Deity. Matthew

1:21-23 proclaims very clearly

that the Messiah …for Whom

the Jews were looking for…was to

be God Himself in human form…Jesus.

In John 16:28, Jesus tells us, “

I came out from the Father and have come into the

world

"…a fact which is continually confir

med throughout the New Testament in such

Scriptural verses as 1 John 4:9;

Romans 8:3; and 1 Timothy 3:16.

Isaiah 9:6 makes it cl

ear that not only was “

a child

born

" that first Christmas day, but, also,

that “

a Son was

given

.” God

gave

His Son…(eternal Deity)…and, a “

child was

born

"…(born

into the human race)…Christ’s humanity began.

[Jesus]Heb 2:9
2:9 {6} But we {l} see Jesus, who was made a little {m} lower than the angels {7} for the {n} suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should {o} taste death for {8} every man.
(6) The answer: this is already fulfilled in Jesus Christ our head, who was temporarily for our sakes inferior to the angels, being made man: but now is advanced into most high glory.
(8) In this exists the force of the argument: for we could not eventually be glorified with him, unless he was abased for us, even for all the elect. By this event the apostle comes to the other part of the declaration of Christ’s person, in which He proved him to be God and also man.
It is written about Jesus by the Prophet Isaiah: ”Unto us a SON is given, a Child is born and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
”For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are One.”
—1 John 5:7
”I and the Father are One.”
— John 10:30
"Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"
— John 8:58
8 But of the Son He (God) says, :
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
— Hebrews 1:8
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon ME whom they have (pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn.
— Zechariah 12:10
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of GOD, thought it not robbery to be equal with GOD:
7 But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a MAN, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
— Philippians 2:5-11 (Letters From Prison) ====
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
— Revelation 19:16

Let us examine the Scripture on important issues of eternal consequence.
A. Jesus Christ is The Way The Truth and The Life
John 14:6
“Jesus said unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, But by Me.”
Acts 4:12
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven giving among men, whereby we must be saved."
1 John 5:11-13
11 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.”
The Bible reveals clearly that the Godhead is made up of three separate Persons, each distinct from the other. The first is called God the Father, the second is God the Son and the third is God the Holy Spirit. These three separate Persons make up the one God that we serve. Each one of these three Persons is God in all fullness. No one is greater than the others. The three Persons are united in one and there can be no separation. Each one of these three is the Creator, the Lord, and the eternal God. Yet we do not have three Creators, Lords, or eternal Gods, but One. The Scripture says:
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear O Israel; The Lord our God is One Lord."Mark 12:29
God the Son came to the world in human form. His name was called Jesus Christ. He came to save mankind from sin and to restore man to eternal life with God.
John 1:1-3, 10, 14
1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew him not.
14 And the Word (Jesus) was made flesh and dwelled among us (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.”
— Matthew 1:21-23
21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Your eyes now have opened clearly to the One that suffered because of your sins, the One that was crucified on the cross, that died, was buried and rose from death on the third day; the One that gave the commission that the gospel be preached in all the world to make people believe on Him for the forgiveness of their sins and the salvation of their souls; the One that went back to heaven and promised that He would be coming back to the world to take His true believers to be with Him and to condemn rebellious sinners to everlasting hell fire, prepared for Satan and his angels. Your eyes have opened clearly to who JESUS is — our Lord and our God.

John 20: 27-29
27 “Then said He to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into My side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus said unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
There is no Salvation in any Other Religion or Belief
All those who seek the salvation of their souls through other religions or persons (saints, prophets, masters, etc.) can never find true salvation and can never enter into heaven.
— John 10:8-11

To reject Jesus is to reject the God of your life. To reject Jesus means you have chosen to go to hell and be damned forever along with Satan and his subjects.
Thirdly, Jesus Christ is the Saviour from sin. You cannot stop sinning by your power without Him. Welcome Him into your life to give you the power to overcome sin. When Jesus comes into your life He will save you from sin and give you the power of righteousness. Apart from Him there is no other one and no other way.
— Acts 16:30, 31
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." — 2 Corinthians 5:17
When you give your life to Jesus Christ your sins are forgiven and you have a new life from God. Your name enters into the book of life in heaven. Surely, you will not want to start committing new sins and to get your name removed from the book of life. You must determine to continue in Christ by living a righteous life every day to the end of your life on earth. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth, obey Him. Do not be afraid of man and be not ashamed of following Jesus. Dissociate from evil friends, relationships and associations.
— 1 John 3:9, 10
9 “Whosoever is born of God doth no commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
— Colossians 2:6-8
6 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him.
7 Rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
Water Baptism
Having given your life to Jesus Christ, you will need to submit yourself to water baptism. Water baptism follows repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.
— Acts 8:35-39
35 “Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”
The scriptural water baptism is one immersion into water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
— Matthew 28:19
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
Water baptism is not for ignorant and unconverted children, nor for unrepentant adult. Those who were baptized when they were still sinners need to be baptized when they truly repent and give their lives to Jesus Christ. The apostles practiced water baptism according to the instruction given to them by the Lord Jesus Christ.
— Acts 2:38
Baptism With the Holy Spirit <3
Baptism with the Holy Ghost or the gift of the Holy Ghost is the coming of the Holy Spirit upon a believer in baptismal measure for the purpose of filling him with power for effective Christian service. All believers are promised the baptism with the Holy Spirit by God. This is received by prayer and faith on God’s promises.
— Acts 1:8
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
— Luke 11:13
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him."
The scriptural evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as the Spirit inspires.
— Acts 2:4
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
— Acts 10:44-46
44 “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.”
Speaking in tongues as evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit is given to every believer who is baptized with the Holy Spirit for the purpose of prayer and personal edification.
